Are you a licensed Class 1 AZ truck driver looking for a stable, well-paying job in the fuel and petroleum industry? Parkland Corporation — one of Canada's largest and most respected independent fuel suppliers — is actively hiring a Fuel Driver Class 1 AZ to join their growing transportation team. If you are searching for a trucking career that offers competitive wages, excellent benefits, and a genuine work-life balance, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

About Parkland Corporation

Parkland Corporation (now part of Sunoco LP following its acquisition in November 2025) is a powerhouse in the fuel and petroleum products industry. With operations spanning Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the Americas, Parkland is one of the fastest-growing independent suppliers and marketers of fuel products on the continent. The company powers a wide family of locally known brands and serves retail, commercial, and wholesale customers every single day. At Parkland, the motto is simple: energizing people and businesses to get them where they want to go.

For professional Class 1 AZ truck drivers, joining Parkland means becoming part of a safety-first culture, a supportive team environment, and a company that genuinely invests in its employees' long-term success.

Job Title: Fuel Driver – Class 1 AZ

Company: Parkland Corporation (Bluewave Energy / Ultramar / Rhinehart Oil — regional brand)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

License Required: Class 1 AZ Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Route Type: Short-haul, local/regional delivery

Perks: Sleep in your own bed every night — all routes are short haul!

What You Will Do as a Fuel Driver Class 1 AZ

As a Fuel Driver with Parkland, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of fuel and petroleum products to commercial, retail, and wholesale customers. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Safely operating a Class 1 AZ tanker truck on designated local and regional delivery routes
  • Loading and delivering fuel including gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum products in compliance with Parkland's strict safety standards
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure your truck meets all federal and provincial safety regulations
  • Completing accurate delivery documentation, driver logs, and dispatch reports
  • Providing professional customer service at every delivery point
  • Adhering to all WHMIS, TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods), and FMCSA regulations
  • Participating in Parkland's "Drive to Zero" safety campaign — actively reducing incidents on the road and at customer sites
  • Communicating proactively with dispatch and fleet supervisors regarding route conditions or delays

This is a local truck driving job, which means you are home daily. No long-haul overnight trips. This makes it one of the most attractive CDL Class 1 AZ driving positions currently available in Canada.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for the Fuel Driver Class 1 AZ position at Parkland, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 AZ commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experience operating large commercial vehicles, preferably tankers or tractor-trailers
  • Solid understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for handling petroleum and flammable fuel products
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, manual hose handling, and lifting
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed
  • A customer-first attitude and professional demeanor

Candidates with prior experience in fuel delivery, petroleum transport, or hazmat trucking are strongly preferred. However, Parkland is known for investing in driver training, so motivated candidates with a clean record are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

Parkland offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to attract and retain top CDL Class 1 AZ truck drivers. The estimated pay range for this position is $35 to $38 per hour depending on experience and location.

In addition to excellent hourly wages, Parkland drivers enjoy:

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits for you and your family
  • Vacation pay and paid time off
  • Fuel discounts — a unique perk for drivers in the petroleum industry
  • Scholarship program for dependents — supporting your family's education
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan — invest in the company and share in its success
  • Annual incentive plan tied to company and individual performance
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • A clearly defined path for career advancement within the company

When you compare Parkland's compensation to the broader CDL truck driver job market — where Class A fuel tanker drivers in Canada typically earn between $70,000 and $100,000+ annually — this is an outstanding opportunity.

Why Choose a Fuel Delivery Driving Career?

The demand for qualified Class 1 AZ fuel tanker truck drivers in Canada is at an all-time high. Canada's trucking industry faces a well-documented driver shortage, making experienced CDL drivers extremely valuable in today's job market. Fuel delivery drivers in particular command higher wages than general freight drivers due to the specialized nature of their cargo — handling flammable liquids, petroleum products, and dangerous goods.

Choosing a fuel driver career means:

  • Higher average pay compared to standard dry van or flatbed drivers
  • Local routes that support a healthy work-life balance
  • Strong job security — fuel will always need to be delivered regardless of the economy
  • Specialized skills that make your resume highly competitive
  • Union and non-union opportunities with top-tier employers like Parkland

Tips for Getting Hired as an Artic Truck Driver in 2025
