Job Description
Position Overview: We seek dedicated truck drivers to transport trailers between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations.
Essential Functions:
- Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples (where applicable)
- Conduct daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
- Complete and verify all necessary documentation and reports
- Maintain accurate daily logs
- Adhere to hazardous material regulations and procedures
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, and equipment issues
- Perform tire chaining as required
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements (automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed)
- Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
- Compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
- Ability to meet Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards in applicable states
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring an average lift force of 100 pounds multiple times a day
- Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of the truck
- Capability to follow instructions and complete required training
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Demonstrated initiative and motivation
Working Conditions:
- Drive long distances day and night on various roads and in all weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials
- Variable hours based on operational needs
- Overnight stays may be required for some schedules
Note: The Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance. Employees cannot drive a commercial motor vehicle without this endorsement.
